National Pet
Week Celebrates,
People and
Pets, The Perfect Combination
May 6-12, 2001
Canton,
Massachusetts “People and Pets, the Perfect Combination” honors the
relationship between people and their companion animals that greet them
when they walk through the door. National
Pet Week, in its’ 21st year, is a special week set aside by
the American Veterinary Medical Association, the Auxiliary to the
American Veterinary Medical Association, the American Animal Hospital
Association and the North American Veterinary Technician Association,
Inc., to celebrate the special bond shared between people and their
pets.
Veterinarians
and veterinary technicians around the country are open houses, dog
washes, behavior seminars, and numerous other activities that can enrich
the human/animal bond.
“People
really feel that their pets are part of their family and that the
veterinarian is the “other family doctor”, said Dr. Michele Belisle.
“They are interested in health care and behavior issues that
will prolong their lives together”.
Veterinarians
are integral in assisting people understand what it is their pet needs.
Pets rely on us for annual checkup, proper dental care, exercise
and lots of socialization, explained Dr. Belisle.
This
year at the Canton Veterinary Clinic, we are sponsoring a photo contest
with the theme, “People and Pets”.
If you would like to enter please send a photo to the above
address with your name, address, telephone #, pet’s name on the back
side of the picture. You do
not have to be a client at our clinic to enter.
The last day to enter is May 1, 2001.
There will be various prizes for the winners and if you drop off
you picture in person, a token gift awaits you.
Our
office has a new video called, “How to be safe with pets”.
This is a great video for kids.
We would love to come into your school and teach children the
safety of pets, and so forth. Give us a call to schedule a time for a free education
